       Suzuki AP50 w

I have owned a suzuki ap50 since August 2002 and have been impressed in general by the bike. Not only does it have the name of the old sixteener special in the 70's but it also has the spirit.
The bike in restricted form will do 35mph but on a good day it will do about 38mph. It is also faster than the suzuki katana and zillion as I have overtaken a few on mine.
It has a courtesy light under the seat and ample room for a helmet. It handles exceptionally especially when taking corners at high speed and at around £1400 its price is also competitive.
The suzuki is let down only by its styling which is not as appealing as some of the scooters on the market today but as far as Japanese scooters go its fairly swoopy and with a few race decals soon looks the part!

       Suzuki AP50

I have had my Suzuki AP50 since May 04 and i have been quite impressed with it apart from its speed of 32-36mph, unfortunately this scooter cannot be de-restricted so the only way to make it go faster is to modify it, I bought a Tecnigas powerpipe a K&N cone filter and a Malossi variator and weighted rollers and a few more minor tune ups, and it now does 50-55mph, but I have lost loads of acceleration so it moves like a slug until it reaches 20 mph then shoots to 50. The quality of the bike is quite good and it looks tidy enough, the fuel gauge is a bit weird though as it seems to be full for ages then it will suddenly drop to around half and then on empty for ages.
I only paid £845 on a 02 plate with 1,300 miles on the clock and it was and still is mint. I think this scooter is impressive in all aspects apart from speed and acceleration and I am really happy with my purchase, but I do wish I could keep up with my Gilera Runner and Speedfight owning mates.
